The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. The route is also known as the "Coca-Cola" route, it is the oldest route and most well established route on Kilimanjaro. This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations; Most of the people favor Marangu because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path.   


Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive
Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be met at the airport with our driver holding signboard with group name/ leader name with company logo to avoid confusion and transferred to the hotel in Moshi, if you will be arriving before 4pm then we will conduct thorough pre climb briefing with your mountain guide who will double check the climbing gears and itinerary also answer all the question you may have.

Day 2 – Moshi - Marangu gate to Mandara

Hiking time; 4-5hrs

Soon after breakfast your team of guides will be waiting to weigh your duffle to make sure it is not above 15kg and ready to board our van driving to Marangu (Park  HQ)  gate which will take approximately 1 hour, at the gate you will receive a lunch pack, and bottled mineral water while going through paper works/entrance registrations, after registration begin your climb by walking  under the forest canopy, expect rain or foggy, wet weather and mud. Your porters will arrive before you and will set up everything for you.

Mandara Hut is a collection of basic, A-frame mountain huts with bunk beds – quite adequate for your needs – where you inevitably meet up with fellow trekkers who are bent on the same goal.
 

Day 3 –  Mandara hut to Horombo Hut

Hiking time; 6-7hrs

Today your hike will cross through different vegetation starting with Montane forest for 2km from Mandara hut then you enter into heather zone and moorland vegetation if the sky will be clear you will be rewarded with spectacular view of giant Mawenzi peak and snow capped Kibo that will be ahead of you for almost whole day, the hike is a little bit long and involve gentle climbs

 

Day 4 –   Horombo Hut To Kibo Hut

Hiking time; 6-7 hrs

Today’s path will take you through the rocky and rugged terrain. You will have to choose between two different routes up to the saddle, where your next camp lies. The fastest route will take you over a rocky and eroded path while the second is lengthier but much smoother. After arriving at the camp have lunch and rest and expect an early dinner then you will have final preparation meeting for the night summit hike.

Day 5 –  Kibo huts- Uhuru peak  to Horombo campsite.

Hiking time; 8-12hrs

This is the summit climb night, usually it began around midnight and  this is the most challenging part of the climb the summit hike is through the heavy stone scree  and multiple switchbacks between Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers until you reach Stella Point (5,685m). This section is probably the most challenging part of the route and will require great physical and mental effort. Continue to move slowly, always listening to your guide.

 At Stella point will make not long break for pictures and hot drink before we proceed to Uhuru peak, here you may encounter snow on your remaining hike along the rim to Uhuru Peak depending on the weather situation, At Uhuru peak time we spend on top is not more that 10-15min depending on the weather and the crowd but we guarantee you will take your lifetime memorable pictures at the top then you will start your descent from the summit back to Kibo hut, here you will have almost 1hours stopover for resting and branch , change your gear, and hike down   to Horombo hut and overnight.

Day 6 –  Horombo camp  back to Hotel in Moshi

Hiking distance; 18km

Hiking time; 5-7hrs

After a well-deserved breakfast, we will conduct tip ceremony sing and dance together while one representative from the climber will say few words to supporting team and shake hands, hand over the tips money the start descending through the heavy rain forest to Marangu gate. At the gate you will sign out at the park registry book and guide will collect your achievement certificate then load the van drive back to hotel through the nourishing banana farms and cheerful villagers, you may stopover for some souvenirs, at the hotel you will meet company representative who will sort out and arrange your next schedule weather its Safari or airport drop-off, and agree pickup time.
 

Day 7

Departure

If you are catching late evening flight you may arrange some short daytrips with our office representatives, please make sure you leave the hotel 3 hours before your flight.
